Here at Ardent Flame we utilize whatever technologies are required to find a solution to your needs. If you need a web page and want us to do the basics, we will do the basics. For a basic design we will give you options from our template library; then, we will integrate the text and photos that you have put together. This is done in XHTML and CSS fully compliant to web standards.
Most wish to have a truly custom layout, that stands out and is unique. For you, we will work to design a layout together. After we have determined our layout and selected colors, we will collaborate on the content to be included on the web site. During this information gathering process, we will determine if driving your site with a database makes sense for your needs. We will also assist in determining if there is a need for forms, message boards, and other features for the site.
Some also wish to have more advanced web services such as a shopping cart integrated with your site. Or perhaps there are documents that you want to pull into your page. We are willing to work on these custom needs.
You may look at the above and think: "I want more, I want a full application that the developer will make and just leave it where I can do all the updates." We also accommodate this with our CMS (Content Management System), this system is customized for a specific layout to allow easy and flexible management by the end user.
Typically in an advanced site we will script the back-end in PHP, and we will use a MySQL database to store the records. For the user interface we will use XHTML and CSS that is mobile device compatible. For more advanced user interfaces, we will use AJAX to manipulate the different elements of the page.
We recommend to all of our clients to lay out a list of needed functionalities, this list should be as small as possible to keep the layout simple for the visitor. Only after the framework is customized and organized for the needed functionalities, to allow for easy access, do we recommend adding in the extra 'goodies'. This way, the basics are not lost when an un-savvy user begins to use the page.
